What is Love? Do you believe in Love?
These are two questions I was recently asked by two different individuals? I say different because they are from different planets. One is from Mars and the other from Venus.

The questions are not new but they kept me thinking for a while.

Hitting it straight I would say Love is all about Respect, Trust and Happiness. If one derives all three from somebody or something then I would say (s)he is in love. That somebody/ thing can be your sweetheart or dog or tree or stone or for that matter anything.

Let me elaborate just for the sake of it. Let’s pick a person as the first example. Say your grand ma. To love your grand ma you need to respect her. Respect her individuality. Respect her existence. And respect her independence (physical, emotional and spiritual). Trust not her soccer skills but the fact that your respect for her is natural and spontaneous. There should be absolutely no doubts about it. And the last stand of the tripod of Love is Happiness. Your association with her at a physical level or just a thought should fill you with joy.

The second example would be the cycle that you bought during your “nikker” (short pants) days. To love your cycle you need to respect it. Respect the individuality. Its not any cycle but the cycle. Respect her existence, for cycle needs to exist the why it should be. And not the way you want it as per your convenience. Just because you can not use it anymore does not mean you can dismantle it and thus save on the space. Respect her independence. The cycle is alive if it runs. And if there is somebody who can keep the cycle running (you son or younger cousin) then he should have it. You can not shackle it just because you own it. Trust the cycle and your respect for the cycle should be real and natural. The last whenever you think about that cycle there should be a sense of happiness.

If you are confused about being in love or not I bet the above may be of some help. Make your Love immortal by demonstrating it in a memorable way. So that the person/ thing you are in love always cherishes it forever.

Answer to the last question is Yes, I am overtly optimist. And believe the world will be full of Love and only Love some day.
