Poetry 1

In
The dark
Before the dawn
I walk on the white sand
Leaving a trail of footsteps behind
Follow the path when the sun rise
U will find me there, near
To take u along
En route
Love

Poetry 2

When
It’s dark
Music is dead
And breeze is still
Hold on the thought
Time will pass
It’ll light
Again

Poetry 3

(Distance between people)
Distance
Isn’t in length
Nor the days to cover
Its weight of the heart
Beats faster
In-love

Sneeze London

Posted on Nov 4th, 2008 by a.vicky : Traveller a.vicky

Recently I was watching a travelogue. The host, a British guy, was in my country. The presentation was honest, funny and surreal. The show earns its first two adjectives because the commentary was chiselled with British 'sarcasm' filled humour. And the later because of the country of visit.

I liked the whole presentation. Wonder if somebody of the same calibre ever made a travelogue on London what would be the things he would talk about!!!

I don’t know.

After all I am not him. But definitely I have some inputs to give. First devoting an episode on ‘Blow Nose London’ (see my previous blog with the same title). The second being…

It is difficult travelling in London tube, especially in winter. If people are not blowing their nose than they are stoping themselves from sneezing. I have nothing personal against these innate human manifestations to surrounding climatic condition. But there is something interesting to observe.

One does not sneeze in London. It is kind of against the social mannerism. With a woman around one would shut his mouth and nose so tight that sneeze would die a premature death. Poor sneeze. With liberation movement all round us when would they ever get their right? Sneeze is one of those bodily expressions that the body makes. And not getting into other expressions I think the body deserves all the right to express it.

My uncle would have vehemently supported me on this. After all only thing he ever enjoyed in life was sneezing. I remember during my school summer vacation I had gone to stay in his house. We cousins made a wonderful gang of kids. Once after dinner while watching a spooky TV show when the door was about to open for the ghost to make an entry; he sneezed. No body moved and we were still for a mintute. The sneeze was so loud that more than the show it scared us to death.

Uncle would never visit London. He has never. But if he does and manages to pass through the customs without sneezing it would be great to see him here. Watching Londoners react to his sneeze would make delightful scene. It isn’t that he does not cover his mouth. Or like Americans he doesn’t think the world beings and ends with him. Its just the volume is so powerful that even Bush wont stop himself from saying “now even human expressions needs to be outsourced”.

I am minority

Posted on Nov 15th, 2008 by a.vicky : Traveller a.vicky

I am made to change. Every where I go I am told change can happen. Before this change thing started I was told that there exists an ‘axis of evil’. I am yet to figure out what this axis is all about or if this change is change of the axis.

Yes, I am minority here. Everybody else understands what change is, what axis is, what evil is. In fact everybody else understands everything else and I am the only minority.

Hey, hey no sympathy please. All my life I have lived as minority; so no big deal. Before I figure out what all this change of axis is about I will be told something new. And so again I would be in minority. Thus for ease of survival I have made peace with the fact of being in minority.

I am not an elusive type. It’s just the ‘others’ around me who makes me minority.

Country : My government has reserved around 50% seats (or may be more than 50% seats) for around 30% of the country's population. These special populations are called schedule caste, other backward classes, etc. These seats are reserved in government offices, universities and educational institutions. Not belonging to any of this special classes or caste I am minority. I have to put in double the effort to secure a college seat.  And with total seats available in relation to country’s population, life becomes a real minority.

Magazines : The magazines I read talks about women emancipation. Liberation of women is every where. I am not a woman nor do I write about women liberation and so again I am in minority.

Office : For last couple of years I have been single. Most of my batch mates are married. And those who are not are preparing to get married. The other day in my office when I mentioned the fact that I was single to my male colleague, he gave me a weird look. It was like a are-you-a-gay look.  Being straight and single makes me a minority.
